One of our church deacons, Timothy, mentioned about Marketplace Ministry to me recently and recommended that I go for their meetings.
So this morning, I climbed out of bed. Battling the Zzee monster, I woke up, cleaned my dog, read the papers, ate some bread and took off.
Eddie, the chairperson of this ministry explained its objectives:-
To be a gathering of businessmen/women, as well as effectively anyone in the workplace who shares an affinity to be the salt and light of the marketplace, or as another member David said, a beacon in this very messy, complicated, and worldly office environment.
To pray for God’s presence and sanctification of our businesses and jobs.
To share our testimonies and support one another.
Francis, a 20-year veteran in business (mainly selling autos), shared his personal business ups and downs with a mantra I hold dear – Never give up.
You fail, you pick yourself up and move on. Fail, pick up, move on. Tighten the belt in hard times. Carry on fighting till your last breath.
That is the hallmark of a business person.
Behind all this is God who is always by our side, often sharing our burden, if only we are willing to lift up everything to Him.
To God be the Glory!
Only when we realise that we are so tiny, so insignificant, and so little, can we then depend on him wholly to supply our needs.
